Country legend Randy Travis has released a new single with the use of AI more than a decade after losing his voice following a stroke in 2013.

On Friday, he announced his new song, 'Where That Came From' - a rich, soulful ballad, with the help of his longtime producer Kyle Lehning.

Travis' wife, Mary Travis, said that the couple were approached by Cris Lacy, Warner Music Nashville co-president, who asked, 'What if we could take Randy's voice and recreate it using AI?'

Mary, who helps her husband with interviews, told the Associated Press last week, how 'excited' they were for the opportunity. She said,  'All I ever wanted since the day of the stroke was to hear that voice again.'

On Monday, Travis appeared with his wife and longtime producer, on the i-Heart radio show, The "Bobby Bones Show, and shared with the how he felt about his new single speaking through the help of AI.

Doctors had given the 64-year-old Travis a two percent chance of surviving after he suffered a stroke while he was being treated for congestive heart failure because of a viral illness, Billboard reported

'Don't knock it - till you try it. I have been skeptical of technology my whole life, but given this opportunity, I figured why not give it a shot,' he said. 'It is encouraging to me finally getting a chance to sing again - just in a different way.'

The host asked Travis was his family's initial reaction was after they heard his voice for the first time in all these eyes.

'Mary said, I didn't know how much I missed his voice till I heard it again, Travis said.

'The kids were tearing up. It has been special sharing with the people I love most. I have to give credit to Cris Lacy and the team at Warner
