Gisele Bündchen opted to skip the 2024 Met Gala to stay home with her daughter Vivian, 11, and son Benjamin, 14, in Florida

While her presence was greatly missed at the annual soiree, which always takes place on the first Monday in May, the supermodel, 43, decided to prioritize quality time with her family over attending fashion's biggest night out.

As for why she passed on the opportunity to make an appearance at the high profile event, which is strictly invitation-only, a source told People that the best-selling author was simply 'busy with her family down in Miami.'

'She has a totally full life and she's very busy with her kids,' the insider explained. 'Plus, she's been working more than she has in 20 years this past year. She has so many projects; she's been working all the time.'

Additionally, Bündchen has 'been working tirelessly this past week to help her home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which is suffering from the most devastating flood it's ever had.'

'She has family there and she's been consumed with worry,' the source noted.

During the gala, she urged her Instagram followers to donate to the Brazil Foundation’s Luz Alliance Fund

'It's so heartbreaking. I'm helping but they need all the help they can get,' she captioned a video of a team of rescue workers heroically bringing a child to safety.

Over the weekend, she was reeling over the devastating floods in her native country that have killed at least 83 people.

'My heart breaks for the Brazilians who are living through the devastation of the massive floods in Rio Grande do Sol this week,' she wrote on Instagram. 'Thousands of people have sadly lost everything.'

She continued: 'My team and I have been received many inquiries about where to donate to get funds directly to the people dealing with this disaster. Thus, I have made the decision to reopen donations to the Luz Alliance Emergency Fund in partnership with @brazilfound.'

The mother-of-two added that 'all the funds will be allocated to the people affected by this natural disaster in our Rio Grande do Sul.'
