Bette Midler opened up about one of her biggest career regrets while discussing her short-lived sitcom Bette, which aired for just one season from 2000 to 2001 on CBS.

While speaking about the series, which was cancelled before it completed its 22-episode order due to increasingly poor ratings, the movie star, 78, admitted that she regrets doing the show, alongside Lindsay Lohan, who portrayed her daughter.

After the pilot aired, the two-time Oscar nominee claimed that Lohan, 37, refused to come back.

The first season had 16 episodes and was largely autobiographical.

At the time, Lohan was fresh off the success of her 1998 film The Parent Trap, and just a few years away from being cast in some of her biggest hits, including Freaky Friday (2003) and Mean Girls (2004).

Although it is unclear if Midler still resents Lohan's choice, the mother-of-one posted a sweet throwback of them on set together just last week.

'Had such a blast filming with the incredible @bettemidler,' Lohan captioned a picture with
