X Factor winner Sam Bailey revealed she has been facing a 'very challenging time' as she gave a health update on her son Tommy on Wednesday. 

The singer, 46, revealed that her son Tommy, 15, who has been diagnosed with autism, has been undergoing a number of NHS tests. 

She thanked the staff at Leicester Hospital for being 'amazing' with her child as she revealed he has also 'officially been diagnosed with epilepsy'. 

Sharing an update on social media. Sam wrote: 'I'd like to thank Leicester Hospitals for being so amazing the last few days with my son. 

'He has been officially diagnosed with epilepsy. I want to thank Young Epilepsy for all this support. It's been a very challenging times. But I want to thank you for all your support.'

Sam shares Tommy with husband Craig Pearson, who she has been married to since 2003. The couple are also parents to daughters Brooke and Miley. 

Last month, Sam spoke of the struggles she had in getting support for Tommy.

Speaking on GBNews, Sam said doctors told her they were unable to help her teenage boy.

Things became so bad that Tommy even became suicidal because he wasn't getting the help he needed.

Sam - who won The X Factor back in 2013 - told GB News: 'I knew the transition from primary school to secondary school was going to be difficult for him.
