Whoopi Goldberg has warned people to 'leave Kelly Clarkson alone' after she finally confessed to using a weight-loss drug.

Kelly, 42, has received major backlash since she admitted on her own talk show during an interview with The View host that she was prescribed weight-loss medication by her doctor, after previously insisting her dramatic transformation was the result of 'walking' more and cutting back on carbs.

During Wednesday's episode of The View, Whoopi, 68, was keen to discuss the negative reaction to Kelly's admission and claimed people would 'kick her behind' regardless of what she said and also argued that 'some people need their bodies jump-started.'

As the rest of the panel, including Sunny Hostin, joined in with defending mother-of-two Kelly, comedian Joy Behar claimed that 'diets do not work' and even insisted: 'Nobody wants to be fat, except a sumo wrestler.'

She has been walking, but this has helped and I don't know why, because they kick her behind when she's bigger, they kick her behind when she's lost the weight and now they're kicking her behind because she said it out loud.'

Referring to their conversation on Monday, where Whoopi opened up to Kelly about her own weight loss journey, the mother-of-one suggested: 'Maybe she was more comfortable hearing somebody say, "That's what I did."'

Her cohost, Sara Haines, chimed in and said: 'I have no shade for Kelly Clarkson. I commend anyone that is able to have access to these drugs, these injectables, that help them along the way.

'There are people that need to do this, I love that. But I do think being transparent - and I'm not saying this about Kelly - there's been a wave of people that have taken these and they tell someone by omission, "Oh I'm just walking or I'm fasting or I'm doing this."

'The problem there is you become a part of the problem that led us here because you're standing in front of someone that feels all those feelings you had when you couldn't figure it out and feels they're failing and you're saying, "It worked for me, I don't know what's wrong with you," and you really need to be open about it if you're
