Richard Gadd's stalker drama Baby Reindeer has soared to global success since its release on Netflix last month, racking up a massive 60million views.

The series follows comedian Donny Dunn, who endures a harrowing ordeal when he is bombarded with thousands of emails from stalker Martha Scott, played by Jessica Gunning.

The smash hit has prompted many thought-provoking conversations around stalking, in particular celebrity stalking.

Amid the huge success of the show, Daily Mail Australia takes a look at Aussie celebrities who have had their own terrifying stalking experiences.

After the show premiered, comedian Wil Anderson touched on his stalker ordeal as he spoke about Baby Reindeer during a radio appearance.

Speaking on Nova's Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie, Wil, 50, said he was warned not to watch the show because of his own experience where he received daily letters from a fan.

'I have been warned not to watch [Baby Reindeer] actually. Like a lot of comedians, and without wanting to go into it, it's a very personal medium,' he shared.

'What often people can feel like is they know you very well. So that's actually part of the illusion - it's a bit like radio - you're sharing your lives with your audience every day and people can start to feel like "I'm listening to you in the shower, I'm listening to you in the car, you're an intimate part of my life".'

Wil went on to explain how he used to have a fan who would write him long letters every single day when he hosted the Triple J radio show from 2000 to 2004.

He recalled he would receive 'six pages' of dialogue from the female fan daily as if they had a 'personal relationship' as he detailed the ordeal.

'I imagine there's a lot of people who work in these industries who have been touched with some story of that,' he went on.

'When I was at Triple J - I think this is probably safe enough now to tell, it was so long ago - I had a woman write to me every single day we were on air - and this was in the old days where you had to write on pieces of paper in envelopes - every day, after every show.

'There would be like six pages of dialogue as if we'd be having a personal relationship. It can be a lot worse than that also.'

Meanwhile, radio presenter Kate Ritchie's own stalker nightmare came to light earlier this year.

It was revealed she made a phone call to NSW Police after receiving a message from Gerard Ryan, 71, which said he was in the suburb where she lives and hoped to find her.

He had sent her 'hundreds' of messages from February 2022 through to April 2023, including 'numerous naked photographs of the accused and numerous videos of the accused masturbating', police facts, seen by the Daily Telegraph, claimed.

Ryan was arrested at a park in Sydney's eastern suburbs last month and charged with stalking, which he pleaded guilty to. He was also hit with an apprehended violence order banning him from approaching Kate.

Waverley Local Court was told Ryan's obsession with the TV star began last year when he started posting on her social media accounts comments including, 'Hello Kate … I love you so much'.
