Maria Menounos says Rocky Balboa helped her fight cancer

Maria Menounos says Sylvester Stallone inspired her to beat cancer.

The 39-year-old TV presenter admits the actor's wise words in 2006 movie Rocky Balboa helped pick her up following her diagnosis and 'find the positive' in her terrible news.

Speaking to TMZ following the removal of a benign golf-ball sized tumor in June, the Massachusetts native explained that the fictitious boxer's words have been 'very inspiring' through her journey.

She continued to quote the line from the 2006 film Rocky Balboa.

'"It ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done."' 

She followed up with her own interpretation of the speech, saying 'So no matter what hits you in life, you've got to get up, you gotta find the positives and find the blessing in it. Even the bleakest of things, there are blessings.' 

'And surround yourself with amazing people that will lift you up,' she added.
