Julia Stiles has hit back at mom-shamers after receiving a barrage of criticism on Instagram for holding her newborn son Strummer the wrong way in a carrier.
The 36-year-old actress, who welcomed her first child in October, had promoted a front baby carrier by brand Tula in a post she shared on Wednesday.
The Bourne Identity star captioned the sponsored snap: 'I haven't worn a back pack since middle school. Now I have a front pack. #jujube #tulababycarriers'.
'Thanks for the concern': Julia Stiles has hit back at Instagram critics after they told her she was holding her baby incorrectly in the comments section of a sponsored post
But some Instagram users weren't happy with the image which showed five-week-old Strummer sitting snug with his legs tucked up inside the pouch.
It wasn't long before fans started commenting on Julia's post that her baby boy's legs should have been poking out the sides of the carrier.
One commenter wrote: 'Congrats! Beautiful new momma! Tula tip: Little baby feets go out the sides and not in the waistband'
While another person chimed in: 'feet should never be in the waist band'
An ensuing debate then took place between commenters, albeit well-meaning, about the correct way to use the carrier.

She began: 'It was brought to my attention that in the previous photo I am not holding my baby correctly.
'Wow, I didn't expect that. What was supposed to be a shout out of products I like suddenly becomes an invitation to comment on my baby, and my ability as a mother. That's the internet for you, the carnivorous plant from "Little Shop of Horrors".
