Chris Hemsworth set to star in a spin-off of Men In Black

He is no stranger to starring in franchise films, with roles in Star Trek, The Huntsman, Thor and The Avengers.

And now, Chris Hemsworth is in talks to sign his name to star in a new Men In Black spin-off, Variety reported on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old is said to be in early talks with Sony Pictures to play an agent from a secret government organisation that protects earth from potential threats from aliens and space.

F. Gary Gray, who directed Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious, is also in discussions with the film company to oversee the reboot.

American screenwriting duo Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, who wrote Marvel's Iron Man, Punisher: War Zone and Transformers: The Last Knight, are reportedly penning the script for the film's May 2019 release.

The original 1997 film, starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, followed the unlikely duo as they supervised aliens living on earth and protected humans from intergalactic threats.
