Liam Gallagher 'REFUSED to play his Isle of Wight set on Sunday because it ...

He is a huge football fan and nothing gets in the way of him and the beautiful game.

And Liam Gallagher proved this to be true, as he allegedly refused to play his headlining set at the Isle of Wight festival on Sunday because the World Cup is on.

Festival bosses apparently originally tried to get the former Oasis star to close the weekend with a performance on the last night.

However once it came to Liam's attention that this would be after England play Panama on Sunday afternoon, meaning he would be unable to fully enjoy the game, he allegedly asked to swap days.

A source told the Mirror: 'Liam is a massive football fan so it was only right for him to be able to let his hair down and enjoy some booze during the match.

'Upon realising the potential clash, bosses scheduled Las Vegas rockers The Killers, who were set to headline another night, to play Sunday instead, and Liam is on Saturday.'

Although despite requesting to swap days, there is no illusion that Liam's set will be booze-free, as bosses have apparently organised 50 bottles of Dom Perignon to 'get the party started'.
