Frozen avocado chunks have been recalled over listeria fears, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Thursday.
Nature's Touch Frozen Foods makes 12-ounce bags of 'Signature Select Avocado Chunks,' and one sample tested by the FDA tested positive for listeria, bacteria that can cause fever and diarrhea.
According to the FDA's recall, packs that may have been affected were transported to Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming, Texas and Utah.
Listeria infections are unpleasant for anyone, but can be dangerous to pregnant women, elderly people or those with weakened immune systems.
So far, no illnesses have been reported, but the FDA is urging anyone who bought the avocado chunks with a 'best before' date of October 11, 2020 to throw them out.
