Dunajska Streda keen to talk after Celtic make £1.75million bid for in-form striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo Celtic have made an opening bid of £1.75million for Vakoun Issouf Bayo Slovakian side Dunajska Streda have admitted they are willing to consider a deal Celtic are also chasing a right-back but may miss out on Timothy Catasgne By Stephen Mcgowan For The Scottish Daily Mail Published: 00:18 GMT, 1 January 2019 | Updated: 00:18 GMT, 1 January 2019 Viewcomments Celtic will this week begin formal negotiations for the £2million transfer of Ivory Coast striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo. Slovakian club Dunajska Streda last night confirmed that they have received a bid believed to be worth £1.75million from the Scottish champions. The Slovaks want a fee in excess of £2.3m before agreeing to sell their top scorer, with sporting director Jan Van Daele telling Sportsmail: 'We confirm we have received an official offer from Celtic of which we acknowledged receipt. We are planning to start the negotiation process in due course.' Dunajska Streda striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo may move to Celtic during the January window An under-23 international, Bayo has netted 14 goals in 25 appearances since moving from Tunisian side Etoile de Sahel in March and is currently on honeymoon after tying the knot with handball-playing fiancee Sandrine on Saturday. Brendan Rodgers is in the market for two strikers after referring Scotland international Leigh Griffiths for treatment for off-field issues and the Celtic manager also hopes to complete a six-month loan deal for PSG's Timothy Weah - son of former Ballon D'Or winner George - before a week of warm weather training begins in Dubai this weekend. Brendan Rodgers wants reinforcements as he attempts to regain the Premiership title Efforts to strengthen in defence have suffered a set-back, however, after Italian club Atalanta reiterated their reluctance to sell right-back Timothy Castagne. The Serie A side held talks with Castagne's representative last week, warning it would take an exceptional offer to persuade them to sell the 23-year-old Belgian international in the current window. A move for Atalanta's Timothy Castagne (l) stalled after the club said they did not want to sell The Parkhead side also enquired over a loan deal for West Brom's Scotland winger Oliver Burke, but have yet to follow it up. Meanwhile, Griffiths has vowed to be 'back to his best' for Celtic next year. The Parkhead striker said on Twitter: 'Been off for a while, but a Happy New Year when it comes. 'In 2019, I'll be back doing what I do best, helping the team achieve as much as we can. And I can't wait.'
