The future for Floyd Mayweather remains unclear after his exhibition fight A boxing legend, the American beat Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa It took just over two minutes and the man worth £440m earned around $9m Will a big money fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov be his next lucrative bout? REPORT: Mayweather makes $9m in two minutes against Japanese kickboxer By Nathan Salt For Mailonline Published: 11:22 GMT, 1 January 2019 | Updated: 11:28 GMT, 1 January 2019 Viewcomments Since his professional debut in 1996, Floyd Mayweather has earned hundreds of millions of pounds. His net worth is estimated to be close to a staggering £440million. But the 'Money Man' continues to chase the priciest and most lucrative carrots in boxing after he followed up his $100m pay-day against Conor McGregor with $9m for just over two minutes work against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on Monday. Naturally, there was to be no kicking allowed and after three knockdowns around 120 seconds from the first bell, the 20-year-old saw the contest ended, he was in tears and Mayweather was left grinning at his latest money-spinning exhibition. Floyd Mayweather needed just over two minutes to make $9million in an exhibition contest The 50-0 unbeaten boxer was all smiles in what proved a farcical bout with Tenshin Nasukawa A boxing career which saw him go unbeaten in 50 fights, Mayweather is widely considered one of the finest the sport has ever seen. But as to whether he is to ever return against high-calibre opponents remains to be seen. Sportsmail looks at what is next for the 'Money Man' and whether his future really lies on the farcical exhibition circuit. Fight Khabib Nurmagomedov This one appears the most likely. If any fighter can pull him away from the gimmicks of the exhibition circuit it is probably UFC king Nurmagomedov. Khabib's win over Conor McGregor in Las Vegas was steeped in controversy but he is a huge name in combat sports right now and would generate plenty of hype and anticipation if he got into a boxing ring with Mayweather. There is simply no chance that Mayweather, now 41, will enter a UFC contest for the first time against one of the sport's all-time best. Millions or not, he's not foolish. Khabib's manager Ali Abdelaziz told TMZ Sports that Mayweather has been 'begging' to make the fight happen. A case of watch this space... Fight Conor Mcgregor (again) There first bout saw McGregor swap the octagon for the boxing ring and while it was the second highest grossing fight ever from an audience perspective, it was far from the greatest bout the boxing world has ever seen. Fight Canelo Alvarez (again) There is no doubt that the Mexican is keen to make amends for the defeat back in 2013 and he looks a different beast having just beaten Rocky Fielding in New York to become a three-division champion. Remain on the exhibition circuit Mayweather is about making money and what easier way to do that than to spend five minutes (if that) in the ring with people who simply are nowhere near the standard good enough to get close to him. Facing a Japanese kickboxer but banning kicking reduced Nasukawa to a withering and frail youngster who looked uneasy stood in front of Mayweather who could not wipe the Cheshire cat smile from his face. This was the American's first foray abroad for an exhibition and he made $9m (£7m) in just over two minutes. Don't bet against on this money-making machine to come back for more.
