From Michy Batshuayi and Tiemoue Bakayoko to a Brazilian playmaker and 36-year-old goalkeeper... Christian Pulisic becomes Chelsea's 41st loanee after arriving from Borussia Dortmund Christian Pulisic has become the latest on the list of Chelsea players out on loan With the American winger added, the Blues now have a staggering 41 loanees Michy Batshuayi and Tiemoue Bakayoko are among the high-profile stars on loan They have also shipped out a number of young players and unwanted talentBy Max Winters For Mailonline Published: 11:11 GMT, 2 January 2019 | Updated: 11:14 GMT, 2 January 2019 Viewcomments Christian Pulisic has become the latest addition to the ever growing list of Chelsea players out on loan following his move from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday morning. The American winger will move to Stamford Bridge in the summer for £58million but will remain at the Bundesliga club for the rest of the season. Sportsmail exclusively revealed Pulisic was set for a switch to Stamford Bridge in November as Dortmund accepted they had to cash in on a player who was out of contract in 2020. Christian Pulisic has become the latest addition to the growing list of Chelsea players on loan As has become an annual custom, Chelsea sent out a small army of youth-team and fringe first-team players on loan for the season ahead in the summer. No fewer than 41 surplus players have now passed out of the Stamford Bridge revolving door to destinations as diverse as Yeovil Town and Lleida Esportiu in order to gain experience. The players shipped out range from pricey acquisitions to young stars and even those who are relatively unknown. Among them is Michy Batshuayi, the unloved Belgian striker who is spending the season at Valencia. He scored nine goals in 14 matches at Borussia Dortmund in the second half of last season before injury struck. He has followed that up with three goals in 21 appearances at the Mestalla. Tiemoue Bakayoko is another expensive purchase to have been cast aside. The unimpressive France midfielder, who somehow played 43 games for Chelsea last season, made way for incoming loanee Mateo Kovacic by joining Italy's fallen giants AC Milan. Michy Batshuayi is spending the year at Valencia but is still struggling for form in front of goal Tiemoue Bakayoko somehow played 43 games for Chelsea last season but is now at AC Milan They have the option to make the deal permanent for just under £30m next summer if he manages to find some form. Chelsea only signed him in 2017 - for a princely £40m - and he's already on the scrapheap. Kurt Zouma, currently on loan for the season at Everton, suffered Premier League relegation with Stoke City last campaign. It's been a strange fall from grace for Zouma, who was favoured by Jose Mourinho but quickly fell out of favour under Antonio Conte and his reputation has taken a hefty dent. While Chelsea are keen to ship out their unwanted first-team stars, they also have a penchant for sending youngsters off to develop, but often stagnate, elsewhere. Two of those they will be hoping to blossom though are spending the season under club icon Frank Lampard at Derby. Box-to-box midfielder Mason Mount is one of them and he joined the Rams after a very positive loan spell at partner club Vitesse last season. He scored on his Derby debut at Reading and continues to catch the eye. The other learning his trade at Pride Park is Fikayo Tomori. The defender already has an impressive CV at youth level as he won the Under-20 World Cup with England last year. Box-to-box midfielder Mason Mount is learning his trade under Frank Lampard at Derby Veteran keeper Eduardo is at the opposite end of the spectrum at 36 but is on loan at Vitesse Chelsea have also shipped out a number of players deemed surplus to requirements but those they have been unable to sell. Brazilian playmaker Nathan signed for Chelsea from Atletico Paranaense in July 2015. Since then, the 22-year-old hasn't been anywhere near a Chelsea appearance, instead enjoying a European tour with Vitesse, Amiens and Belenenses. Now that he's back in his homeland with Atletico Mineiro, surely it's a matter of time before Chelsea cut their losses. The Blues must have thought highly of Ghana international left back Baba Rahman when they paid Augsburg £14m for him back in 2015 and, unlike many loanees, he did spend a season with the first team. But he failed to impress and was sent out on loan to Schalke, where he has struggled for appearances. He is contracted to remain there until the end of the season. While most on this list are 25 or under, veteran Portuguese keeper Eduardo is at the opposite end of the spectrum. At 36, he is part of this season's Chelsea to Vitesse cohort, having already joined the Dutch side long before the Blues brought in Kepa as their new No 1.
