Danny Cipriani was handed a Six Nations lifeline as he joined a national squad gathering with other England hopefuls this week.
Sportsmail understands Gloucester wing Ollie Thorley, Worcester prop Nick Schonert, their 19-year-old flanker Ted Hill, Saracens’ Ben Earl, 21, and Wasps’ Dan Robson – now back from injury – were some of the 40-odd players who also attended the meeting.
However, there was no invitation for Saracens centre Alex Lozowski.

No training took place but players from the London and South West clubs – including Bath’s 21-year-old back-rower Zach Mercer – met at Bisham Abbey on New Year’s Eve for medical tests and check-ups.
And those at midlands and northern-based clubs – like Leicester’s 23-year-old prop Ellis Genge – went to Liverpool on Wednesday for a similar session.
Thorley’s inclusion completes a whirlwind end to 2018. The 6ft 1in, 15st 8lb 22-year-old Premiership player of the month has been the find of the season so far, having scored four tries in four league games – now he is on England’s radar having been nowhere close to it a matter of months ago.

Cipriani is currently injured, having hurt his chest, and will be out for a further four weeks – but the fact that he attended on Monday seems to suggest he is still in Eddie
