If any second thoughts about moving to Bayern Munich had crept into Callum Hudson-Odoi's head, they'd have evaporated at around 4.30pm.

Two starts in quick succession - albeit in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup - may have had the teenager wondering. 'Maybe I can become a regular here at Chelsea?,' he may have pondered.

 

Maurizio Sarri's claim last week that he was ready to hand Hudson-Odoi a more prominent role may have sowed a further seed of doubt in the winger's mind.

Because, according to those close to Hudson-Odoi, in his heart-of-hearts, the teenager doesn't want to leave Chelsea.

If he could choose between being a regular at Stamford Bridge and a regular at the Allianz Arena, he would opt for the former.

However, as Sarri confirmed his starting XI for the clash against Newcastle it all became abundantly clear for the super-talented 18-year-old. Chelsea were back in Premier League action; Hudson-Odoi was back on the bench.
