sport news Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea - PLAYER RATINGS: Alexandre Lacazette proves lethal

Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny were on target as Arsenal produced a strong performance to see off Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Frenchman Lacazette was lethal up front, but Chelsea's attacking talent failed to pose a serious threat.

Sportsmail's NICK CALLOW was at the Emirates Stadium to pass judgement on the players involved.

ARSENAL (4-3-1-2)

Bernd Leno - 6

A surprisingly quiet afternoon for the German keeper who had only one shot on target to deal with. Commanded his area well despite the lac k of action.

Hector Bellerin - 6

Strong in defence and attack on his return to the side. Unfortunate to suffer a late injury which resulted on him leaving the action on a stretcher.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos - 7

Proving to be Arsenal's best and most reliable central defender this season. Again the pick of the bunch at the back.

Laurent Koscielny - 6

His best days are behind him but this was an assured performance from the experienced France international, who enjoyed a touch of fortune when his attempt to score with a header flew in off a shoulder.

Sead Kolasinac - 6

Preferred to fit again Nacho Monreal at left back and had one of his better games in a position where he can look exposed. Strong in the air too when he needed to be.

Lucas Torreira - 7

His recall to the starting line-up instantly gave Arsenal a more solid foundation – both to attack and defend from. Was also Arsenal's key man at dead balls, taking most free-kicks.

Matteo Guendouzi - 6

Spent most of the match in an unfamiliar position on the left hand side of midfield and did everything his manager asked of him by running and tackling from start to finish.

Granit Xhaka - 7

A mature match from the Swiss international at the heart of Arsenal's midfield. Tackled well and reliable distribution.

Aaron Ramsey - 7

More displays like this earlier in the season and perhaps Arsenal would not have shown him the door. An all action display with only a goal missing.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 6

Scintillating skills and tireless running were not rewarded with a goal.Less influential in the second half when his side spent more time on the back foot.

Alexandre Lacazette - 8

By far and away Arsenal's most lethal finisher and proved that with his well taken tenth goal of the season either side of missed opportunities from striker partner Aubameyang. Worked hard tracking back too and received a standing ovation when taken off.
