Henry has reinforced his struggling team with experience this month amid their battle against the drop with the arrivals of Naldo and Cesc Fabregas, but the pair have not been able to make an impact with Monaco yet to taste victory since they've come in. This latest defeat follows a 5-1 loss at home to Strasbourg in the French league on Saturday, a result which has the 2017 French champion languishing in 19th place. But surprisingly, even though Henry said winning this match was a priority for the club, he left key signing Fabregas on the bench. The Spaniard did come off the bench after 69 minutes here to try and rescue Monaco, but could do little to stop them slumping to another embarrassing home defeat. The frustrating thing for Henry is his side had dominated this match for long periods. It may have been a sign of things to come when Gauthier Hein opened the scoring shortly after the half-hour mark against the run of play. But Henry was given hope when Radamel Falcao struck minutes later to level up the scores heading into the interval. Marvin Gakpa put the visitors back in front two minutes after the hour before youngster Ibrahima Niane rubbed salt in the wounds with Metz's third. The Ligue 2 side's victory saw them progress into the round of 16 while the only silver lining for Monaco is that they can now focus on their top-flight survival. But this damaging loss will do little for their confidence. Henry's immediate task is to win points to help the club escape relegation - starting with Saturday's key game at Dijon, which is two points above Monaco in 18th spot.
