Erik Lamela's offside call was very tight... the problem is assistant referees have to work to their normal system of officiating one week and then use VAR the next In matches without VAR they are asked to make judgement calls on tight offsides So when Erik Lamela was played through on goal the linesman flagged for offside When VAR is there, assistants need to keep flags down when offside is marginal If a goal is scored VAR will then go back and either support or correct decision
