Barcelona have tied down 21-year-old Frenkie De Jong for €75m and taken 31-year-old Kevin Prince Boateng on a €2m loan deal so far this January.
Their transfer policy seems to be pulling in two different directions right now.
Sportsmail looks at what’s next for them and why they no longer seem to be trying to pick-up the very best in the world in their prime.
Will there be any other new arrivals this month?
It’s unlikely. The push for PSG’s Adrien Rabiot is fizzling out. He is not needed now they have secured De Jong. If they can sell Denis Suarez they will but there should be no more coming in.
France midfielder Adrien Rabiot had been linked with Barcelona, but is no longer needed
And the summer targets? Will they go for 19-year-old Matthjis De Ligt?
They certainly want the Ajax centre back and they feel having signed De Jong might give them the edge in the market. Bayern Munich are very keen too though and it will take at least €60m and agent Mino Raiola’s commission to get him.
