But their love for the baby-faced Norwegian has reached new heights since he came in as interim manager and completely transformed United's fortunes this season. Two decades ago, when Solskjaer won United the Champions League and the Treble in the Nou Camp, fans paid tribute with the classic 'You are my Solskjaer, my only Solskjaer' chant. The 'Ole's at the Wheel' song, to the tune of Waterfall by the Stone Roses, was first aired at United's home matches over Christmas and then during their win over Newcastle United at St James' Park. And as United have continued to win matches under Solskjaer, the renditions have only got louder and louder. On Monday night, 'Ole's at the wheel' was belted out by nearly 6,000 travelling United fans at Stamford Bridge for most of the second-half as United beat Chelsea 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. The superb rendition was captured on social media videos and drowned out the moans and groans of the home fans, who were calling for Maurizio Sarri to get the boot. Clips from social media captured the rousing rendition of 'Ole's at the wheel' on Monday night Ole's at the wheel Ole's at the wheel, 'Tell me how does it feel, 'We've got Sánchez, Paul Pogba and Fred, 'Marcus Rashford, a Manc born and bred, 'Duh du, du du du du du 'Duh du, du du du du du 'The greatest of English football, 'We've won it all.' Fans of rebel club FC United of Manchester, formed in protest at the Glazer family takeover at Old Trafford, were the first to put football lyrics to the tune of Waterfall a few years ago. And it's now been adapted to suit the buoyant mood at United, starting with the lyrics 'Ole's at the wheel, tell me how does it feel.' It then continues to pay tribute to some current members of the team: 'We've got Sanchez, Paul Pogba and Fred/Marcus Rashford is Manc born and bred.' The chant then breaks into the riff from the Stone Roses song before finishing: 'The greatest of English football/We've won it all.' It mimics the second verse of the original song, which has the lyrics: 'Now you're at the wheel/Tell me how, how does it feel?'/So good to have equalized/To lift up the lids of your eyes.' https://www.youtube.com/embed/7NrLBlw9WZE?feature=oembed https://www.youtube.com/embed/xBidus1wWZU?feature=oembed Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown is a lifelong Manchester United supporter Man United fans get the atmosphere going during their 2-0 win at Chelsea on Monday night Even an inconvenient Monday night scheduling didn't stop United fans travelling in numbers Man United fixtures Premier League unless stated February 24 Liverpool (H) February 27 Crystal Palace (A) March 2 Southampton (H) March 6 Paris Saint-Germain (A) Champions League last-16, second leg March 10 Arsenal (A) March 16 (TBC) Wolves (A) FA Cup sixth round The original, from the Stone Roses' eponymous first album, was released as a single in 1991 and reached No 27 in the UK chart. Solskjaer has now won 11 of 13 matches since taking over as interim manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in December. He remains unbeaten domestically, with United's 2-0 home loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last week the only slip-up so far. United have been drawn away to Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-finals but before that, Solskjaer will turn his attention to Sunday's crunch Premier League game with Liverpool at Old Trafford.
