'I'm comfortable with the idea that it's going to be part of my career': Jon Jones unfazed by latest positive drug test results as he works out ahead of UFC 235 fight with Anthony Smith Jon Jones faces Anthony Smith in the main event of UFC 235 on Saturday night The 31-year-old will be defending his light-heavyweight title in Las Vegas Two of his recent tests came back positive for trace amounts of an oral steroid It was the same substance which has been lingering in his system for over a year Jones and the rest of the fighters on the card worked out at the MGM Grand By Spencer Morgan For Mailonline Published: 10:50 GMT, 1 March 2019 | Updated: 10:52 GMT, 1 March 2019 Viewcomments Jon Jones has dismissed his latest positive drug test results, saying he is comfortable with the idea that questions over doping will always be a part of his career. 'Bones' defends his light-heavyweight title against Anthony Smith at UFC 235 on Saturday night but has come under the spotlight again after two of the five drug tests he took earlier this month came back positive for the oral steroid Turinabol. Those tests showed trace metabolites the banned substance, the same that showed up prior to his victory over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232 in December. Jones will be allowed to fight with experts believing this has been in Jones' system for over a year finding 'no evidence' that a banned substance has been re-administered. The Nevada Athletic Commission is also confident that there is no evidence that the American, widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time, has an unfair competitive advantage due to the presence of the metabolite. Speaking following the news, Jones said: 'I'm comfortable with the idea that it's going to be part of my career. and I don't know how long this is gonna last. What makes me sleep well at night is knowing that I've submitted myself to every test. I've been tested by three of the most powerful agencies in the world. I've never avoided a test and I just feel like the more accessible I am, the more data they will have and the more everybody will understand. 'I'm finding out that there's baseball players that have the same exact same supplement inside of them that's pulsing. There's another UFC fighter with the same exact situation. 'I know that I'm almost a leader in this whole development and I'm comfortable in this space. I just wish fans would not just look at the headlines but read what's really going on. Jones looked in good spirits as he addressed fans Thursday's open workouts at the MGM Grand. He opted not to hit the pads but instead spend an hour taking pictures with everyone in attendance. Jones, whose only career defeat came via disqualification, is the heavy favourite as he look to strengthen his case for being the best to ever do it. His opponent, Smith, is coming of three huge victories but will have to pull off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history to get his hands on the 205-pound title. Elswhere, Tyron Woodley defends his welterweight strap against Kamaru Usman in the co-main event while the undefeat Ben Askren makes his highly-anticipated debut against Robbie Lawler.
