Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he was close to signing forward Son Heung-min while he was a Southampton manager.

The South Korean has emerged as one of the stars of the season for Tottenham, scoring 16 goals for the club and stepping up in the absence of the injured Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

Pochettino, however, has revealed the details of a near miss when he tried to sign Son from Hamburg for Southampton before the player joined Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2013.
