Jonjo Shelvey has been named in Newcastle's Under-23 squad to face Fulham as he faces a fight to get into Rafael Benitez's starting XI.
The former Liverpool midfielder asked to play for the reserves after struggling to get into the side ahead of Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden.
Shelvey has not played for the Magpies since January 5 and his last start for the club was against Watford in November.
