Nuno Espirito Santo has brought Wolves to this point by daring to be different. And against Cardiff the Wolves manager made another inventive decision.
John Ruddy was selected in goal for his first Premier League appearance since May 2016. He kept a clean sheet. But he knows he will be dropped for the trip to Chelsea next Sunday.
Such is the curious existence of a back-up goalkeeper. As announced ahead of the match, Nuno started Ruddy on Saturday with an eye on the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United on March 16.
