Al-Khelaifi told El Parisien last week: 'There is a lot of speculation that we will have to sell Neymar or Kylian but I can assure everyone that they will not leave.' Perez still wants Neymar and have long believed the player has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave this summer for €220m (£187m).

But Perez has dwindling support for the acquisition and Madrid have been deflated by the prospect of any punishment for PSG over breaking financial fair play rules likely to be a transfer ban which would only strengthen the French club's hold over their two top stars.
