'We got what we set out to do': Neil Lennon praises Celtic heroes after last-gasp winner at Dundee Celtic boss Neil Lennon praised his players after the victory over Dundee Odsonne Edouard 96th-minute winner sent the champions ten points clear Lennon believes the result ramps up the pressure on second-placed RangersBy Brian Majoribanks For The Scottish Daily Mail Published: 00:25 GMT, 18 March 2019 | Updated: 00:26 GMT, 18 March 2019 Viewcomments Celtic boss Neil Lennon last night hailed his last-action heroes for ramping up the pressure on Rangers ahead of the next Old Firm match. A 96th-minute winner from Odsonne Edouard at Dundee saw the champions go ten points clear at the top of the Premiership with just eight matches remaining. Celtic are next in action after the international break when Steven Gerrard's side visit Parkhead at lunchtime on March 31. Celtic boss Neil Lennon praised his players after their last-gasp victory over Dundee And a delighted Lennon believes yesterday's vital win at Dens Park - 24 hours after Rangers drew 1-1 at home with Kilmarnock - means victory over their fierce Glasgow foes is no longer a necessity. He said: 'A ten-point gap is significant. We are not taking anything for granted but it is significant. Psychologically, it's huge. Is there a bit less pressure going into the Rangers game? Yes, I think so. It means we don't have to win it. 'Ideally, we would love to win it and get over the line as quickly as possible. But the onus is on the other teams around us. The gap between first and second now is bigger than the gap between second and third - and that's significant.' Odsonne Edouard 96th-minute winner sent the champions ten points clear at the top After Edouard had struck late on, Lennon raced off down the touchline to celebrate wildly at the corner flag with the Celtic fans in the Bob Shankly Stand. 'It's relief, it's emotion, it's the importance of the goal,' the Northern Irishman explained. 'It's not easy coming in at this stage of the season and following in someone's shoes and taking the reins of a style of play you are not used to - and with different players. 'It's a different pressure at Celtic. You're not going into a club that's struggling or the atmosphere has been bad. Lennon believes the result ramps up the pressure on Steven Gerrard's second-placed Rangers 'It's been on the up at this club for the last two-and-a-half years and a great manager (Brendan Rodgers) has walked out the door. It's been a difficult period but it's also been an education.' Lennon admitted Celtic had not been at their best but he praised his side for making the late breakthrough. He said: 'Dundee defended like warriors and they made it very difficult for us. 'We were not as sharp or as snappy and our final ball and our set play delivery was disappointing. 'But the bottom line is we got what we set out to do today - and that's win and go ten points clear.'
