Sterling worked hard as part of the campaign to find the 13-year-old a bone marrow stem cell donor but after a five-year battle with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, Dawkins passed away. Lifting up his shirt following his second and England's third goal in the win over the Czech Republic, Sterling later revealed he wanted to give Dawkins' family 'something to have a smile about.' It appeared a donor had been found in the US in December but that never proved to be a successful match and Dawkins lost his fight last weekend.
