Australian golfer Scott Hend produced a moment of genius in the third round of the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur that helped keep him in contention for the title.

The 45-year-old appeared to be in trouble down the right side of the par-five 18th after a wayward second shot had left him in among the trees.

With any chance of salvaging par seemingly gone, Hend was forced to come up with an audacious plan before addressing the ball and hitting an incredible shot.
