Umar Sadiq has hit out at Steven Gerrard, claiming that the Rangers manager convinced him to join the club only to leave him out in the cold.

Sadiq joined Rangers on a season-long loan from Roma in July 2018, but his time at Ibrox was cut short in December and he was subsequently farmed out to Perugia.

The 22-year-old striker, who made just four first-team appearance for Rangers, told The Sunday Post that he had been unsure about moving to Glasgow but 'it was Steven Gerrard himself who convinced me' in several phone calls.
