'He was like a robot. He knew the laws but didn't know the game': Cardiff boss Neil Warnock in new attack on referees' chief Mike Riley after controversial defeat by Chelsea By Jack Bezants for MailOnline Published: 08:32 BST, 1 April 2019 | Updated: 08:36 BST, 1 April 2019 Viewcomments Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has ramped up his attack on referees' chief Mark Riley in the aftermath of his side's agonising 2-1 defeat by Chelsea on Sunday. Chelsea overturned Cardiff's one-goal lead with two strikes in the final six minutes of their Premier League clash, but Cezar Azpilicueta was clearly offside for the equaliser. It leaves Cardiff five points from safety and Warnock believes the number of errors he has been on the wrong side of raises questions over the work of Riley as General Manger of the Professional Game Match Officials. Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has taken aim at referee's chief Mike Riley after the Cheslea loss 'Riley was like a robot,' Warnock told talkSPORT on Monday. 'He didn't have any feeling. He knew the laws but didn't know the game. That is what they are all like. 'The linesman says "I am sorry, I was blinded". What absolute rubbish. What good is that? He knows what he has done, he has seen it back. We're having too many honest mistakes. 'I don’t think they are educated enough,' Warnock said of Premier League officials. 'I don’t think things will change until Riley goes which is so unlikely as he is rooted in. 'They’ve got to have better coaching than what they have now. He said Willian got in his way or something. We work our socks off for three weeks because we thought we could beat Chelsea, do everything right and then a human error like this? Unbelievable. I can’t describe the feeling. Warnock said incorrect officiating decisions against Chelsea could cost Cardiff 'everything' 'That could be the position that costs us everything,. We were battling against other clubs, now against the odds again.' Cardiff are five points adrift of 17th-place Burnley with seven matches remaining but they are next in action on Wednesday away to Manchester City. 'We are going to put all the names in the hat for that and see who wants to go,' Warnock joked. 'I’ve told Kevin Blackwell I've got flu coming on.'
