England rookie Ollie Thorley could miss out on the World Cup after suffering a potentially season-ending knee injury.
The Gloucester winger is not expected to play again in the Premiership during this campaign - unless his club reach the play-offs.
Thorley was a regular at England camps throughout the Six Nations and had been identified by Eddie Jones as a World Cup bolter.
