Joao Felix announced himself to the world on a European stage as the teen sensation fired Benfica to victory over Frankfurt with a brilliant hat trick in an enthralling encounter at the Estadio da Luz.
The 19-year-old, who is reportedly a top target for Manchester United, put the home side in complete control of the tie with three well-taken strikes, the third leaving the youngster in tears.
Felix opened the scoring from the spot after defender Evan N'Dicka hauled down Gedson Fernandes inside the penalty area.
N'Dicka was the last man and he was duly dismissed by English referee Anthony Taylor, a moment which appeared to set the Portuguese side on course for an easy night's work.
