Pep Guardiola came out swinging in defence of his players by rejecting Ilkay Gundogan's claim that Manchester City are nervous in big matches.

Gundogan offered an honest appraisal of City's mentality following Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League defeat, suggesting they are not brave enough.

Guardiola shot the midfielder down ahead of Sunday's crunch trip to Crystal Palace, however, and indicated they are learning to deal with setbacks in matches.
