Zinedine Zidane must make his Real Madrid players hungry for success again if he is going to oversee another trophy-laden period, according to Clarence Seedorf.

The Frenchman, who won three back-to-back Champions League trophies during his first spell in charge at the Bernabeu, made a shock return to the club last month.

Zidane has been promised a sizeable summer transfer kitty to get Real back on track after a torrid season, but Seedorf believes fixing the squad's mental fragility is just as important as signing new players.

Speaking to Sportsmail during Heineken's recent Champions League Trophy Tour visit to Shanghai, the former Madrid midfielder said: 'It's very understandable that the club chose that route (to appoint Zidane). 

'It's a new challenge, it's a new day. There is good harmony with him and the players for sure. 

'It's still this season that is difficult so you can to rebuild from a mental point of view, create that hunger again and set new goals which are not simply winning the Champions League or the league, but how you win, how you play.'
