Callum Hudson-Odoi is readying himself for surgery on his ruptured achilles tendon as he eyes a return to the pitch in time for the start of next season.

Hudson-Odoi had started Chelsea's last four Premier League games before picking up the freak injury against Burnley on Monday night, curtailing the progress of his breakthrough season.

The 19-year-old landed awkwardly trying to control a long clearance, and was replaced by Pedro before half-time at Stamford Bridge.
