Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Friday that the midfielder was forced off against Barcelona with a high grade adductor injury, including a ruptured tendon. 'Very serious,' Klopp said. Bad news for us but bad news for him with the African Cup on Nations coming up. He was in a really good moment. 'Of course it is a very interesting part of the season he is not part of but I also don't think Guinea is a regular start for the African Cup of nations. 'Of course he is not in a good moment so that is the moment you try to help and we try everything we can.' Keita has scored three goals in his last six Liverpool games and had found his best form since his summer transfer from RB Leipzig. Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday night against Newcastle after Wednesday's 3-0 defeat by Barcelona in the Champions League. Klopp insisted he has no concerns over the mentality of his squad after their defeat at the Nou Camp. 'We have to prove it again tomorrow but we didn't have to pick up players and give them a hug,' Klopp said at his Friday press conferece. 'I don't have to doubt the ambition, the boys are completely on fire. 'When you are in the race and see you can win, you don't get tired. It's the 400m race, the second boost and an extra tank, you find something. 'We are ambitious like hell, we know it is not 100 per cent in our hands and what we can do is beat Newcastle.' Klopp said he didn't know if Roberto Firmino would feature. The striker started on the bench against Barcelona due to a minor thigh issue.
