League Two set for intriguing finale with promotion, play-off and relegation issues to be decided... as Football League founder members from 1888 Notts County could drop out of it for the first time The League Two season draws to a close on Saturday with issues to be resolved MK Dons and Mansfield Town play a winner-takes-all game in promotion race Five teams still have hopes of sneaking into the final play-off position Notts County or Macclesfield Town will suffer relegation to National League By Adam Shergold for MailOnline Published: 11:25 BST, 3 May 2019 | Updated: 11:47 BST, 3 May 2019 1 Viewcomments There are issues at both ends of the table still to be resolves as League Two comes to its conclusion on Saturday afternoon. The third automatic promotion place is still up for grabs, as is the final play-off position, while one club will be joining Yeovil Town in non-league football. We explain all the permutations. Notts County could drop out of the Football League for the first time on Saturday afternoon PROMOTION Lincoln City clinched promotion to League One on April 13 and secured the title on April 22. Bury were then promoted on April 30. That means there is one automatic promotion place on offer and it will go to either Mansfield Town or MK Dons. And, to make things even more intriguing, those two sides are set to meet in Milton Keynes on Saturday afternoon. They are tied on 76 points but Mansfield are third by virtue of their superior goal difference. Therefore, MK will need to beat their promotion rivals in order to leapfrog them and go up. Lincoln City have already been confirmed as this season's League Two champions Mansfield Town make the trip to MK Dons with the winners set to earn automatic promotion MK Dons will be looking to defeat Mansfield and steal into the third automatic promotion spot Lincoln City and Bury are already up, with Mansfield and MK Dons chasing the third spot PLAY-OFFS League Two fixtures All 3pm kick-offs Bury vs Port Vale Crawley Town vs Tranmere Rovers Forest Green Rovers vs Exeter City Grimsby Town vs Crewe Alexandra Lincoln City vs Colchester United Macclesfield Town vs Cambridge United Milton Keynes Dons vs Mansfield Town Morecambe vs Newport County Oldham Athletic vs Northampton Town Stevenage vs Cheltenham Town Swindon Town vs Notts County Yeovil Town vs Carlisle United Whoever doesn't secure third place out of Mansfield and MK Dons will join Forest Green Rovers and Tranmere Rovers in the League Two play-offs. The fourth and final play-off position is still on offer and five teams have a chance ahead of the final round of matches - Newport County, Exeter City, Colchester United, Carlisle United and Stevenage. At present, Newport are a point ahead of Exeter, with the Welsh side heading to Morecambe on Saturday and the Devon club at Forest Green. A win for Newport at Morecambe will keep the door shut to the chasing pack, but draw or lose and it could become interesting. Colchester, Carlisle and Stevenage only have a chance though if Exeter also fail to win. They will go down to the National League alongside either Notts County or Macclesfield Town. County are two points adrift of safety and because of their inferior goal difference, their only chance of survival is to win their game at Swindon Town and hope Macclesfield lose at home to Cambridge United. Notts County were founder members of the Football League in 1888 and have never dropped out of it.
