Jordie Van der Laan has been sacked by Dutch second division team Telstar after claiming to be sick so he could attend the first leg of the Champions League semi-final between Tottenham and Ajax.

The 25-year-old forward defied his club by travelling to London to watch Ajax claim a 1-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Van der Laan has been punished by the club with his contract - which was due to expire in the summer- being terminated.
