The NFL is bringing an academy to London with the aim of using American football to provide students with educational and professional opportunities.

The NFL Academy, based at Barnet and Southgate College in North London, is set to begin operations in September 2019.

Student athletes from age 16-18 will train under professional coaches, and may even get a chance to play NCAA college football in the United States.

Recruitment for the first class of approximately 80 students will take place over the next three months via a series of tryouts. 

Those aged between 16 and 18 years old are eligible to trial with an aim to enrol on a BTEC Level 1, 2 or 3 course, a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, NVQ Level 2 Coaching, YMCA Personal Training course or an A Level study package.
