Macclesfield Town's players came close to refusing to play the final game of the League Two season last weekend - before deciding the match was too important for the club's supporters.

Sol Campbell's players have not yet been paid their wages for April, a statement released on Wednesday confirmed, and the players headed into the final match of the season needing a result to confirm their place in the Football League.
