Chelsea are still to hold fresh contract talks with teenage starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi and now face a major summer battle to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
Amid a potential transfer ban for this summer, it could leave Chelsea facing up to the prospect of losing both Eden Hazard, whose contract also expires in the summer of 2020, and Hudson-Odoi, without the capacity to replace the pair.
