The Manchester United squad gathered at Old Trafford on Thursday night to mark the end of a tumultuous season at home in Europe. 'For half the season there was hope, some enjoyment, some good times. And somehow it's kind of faded away towards the end. 'The football hasn't been inspiring, if anything they've let themselves down and the people that support Man United because I think they're a bit better than that. It's not just the results but some of the football has been hard to watch.' Boycott is known for his forthright opinions and he was in no mood for niceties when it came to Solskjaer's short tenure as United boss. 'The football hasn't been inspiring, if anything they've let themselves down,' Boycott said When it was suggested the Norwegian was overseeing a 'rebuilding process' and that he knew what it was like to win trophies as a United player, Boycott responded: 'He does but he doesn't have a record of experience (as manager) does he? 'He had a short time at Cardiff then resigned honourably, he's looked after a team in his home country (Molde) but it's not the Premier League!' Meanwhile, Luke Shaw won the two main prizes at the end-of-season awards ceremony on Thursday night. The English full-back picked up the Players' Player of the Year trophy before scooping the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, as voted for by fans. He has been one of the club's few bright sparks this season, making 40 appearances in all competitions and winning their Player of the Month prize on three occasions.
