Tom Werner, Liverpool's chairman, has refused to dwell on the disappointment of falling agonisingly short in the club's pursuit of a first title since 1990 and insists they are motivated to go on step better.
Werner, along with principal owner John Henry and president Mike Gordon, was at Anfield on Sunday as Liverpool concluded their season with a 2-0 victory over Wolves — their ninth consecutive win in the Premier League.
The numbers Liverpool accumulated this season were remarkable. Their haul of 97 points would have been enough to win 117 of 120 English championships, they spent more days on top of the table than Manchester City and they had the fourth highest goal difference in history to go with 21 clean sheets.
