Azerbaijan FA chief insists up to 10,000 more tickets are available for EACH team ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea's Europa League final in Baku… and fans just have to email to get their hands on them! Chelsea and Arsenal may get extra 10,000 tickets each for Europa League final Clubs initially given 6,000 each in 68,700-capacity Baku Olympic Stadium Both clubs had expressed concerns over supporters missing out on the match Azerbaijan FA insisted that charter flights could be arranged from London By James Ayles For Mailonline Published: 17:08 BST, 17 May 2019 | Updated: 17:08 BST, 17 May 2019 Viewcomments The Azerbaijan FA have thrown open the possibility of Chelsea and Arsenal being handed up to 10,000 extra tickets each ahead of the Europa League final in Baku on May 29. The showpiece event has been heavily criticised, with UEFA initially making only 6,000 tickets in the 68,700-capacity Baku Olympic Stadium available for each team. In addition, the last direct flight for the 4,000km journey from London to Baku leaves on May 25 and escalating prices for indirect flights on the day of the game mean that many fans may miss out on attending the final. Chelsea and Arsenal may receive up to 10,000 extra tickets each for the Europa League final Both clubs had been given an initial 6,000 allocation for the final at Baku's Olympic Stadium However, AFFA general secretary Elkhan Mammadov insisted that both clubs were free to arrange direct charter flights for their supporters and urged fans who wanted tickets to simply email directly on ticketing@baku2019.az or asif.aliyev@baku2019.az. Mammadov said: 'UEFA's message is if a club will provide the details of the charter flight and those number of tickets they request in accordance with the charter flights number of fans, they can provide it. 'UEFA does not want to provide a number of tickets so the stadium will be unoccupied. As soon as the clubs will provide the schedule of the charter flight, if they need 8,000 tickets UEFA has extra tickets they keep reserved for the clubs. 'This was something communicated to the clubs a few days ago to the representatives of both clubs in Baku. 'For me it is very strange why the charter flights have not been organised already. We are 4,000km away, so the easiest way will be to arrange charters. 'UEFA has direct communication with the clubs and is keeping a reserve of tickets for them.' The Baku Olympic Stadium was chosen by UEFA as host venue for the final in September 2017 Chelsea booked their place in the showdown by beating Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties While Arsenal have criticised the arrangements for the final, Chelsea have struggled to shift their 5,801 allocation due to high costs and complicated travel plans. Mammadov also revealed that, as of Friday, more than 25,000 tickets had been sold internationally, with another 10,000 sold since physical sales started in Baku four days ago. The Azerbaijani FA chief also hit back at claims Baku should not host the match, insisting the final represented an opportunity for football to expand into new markets – with the country also set to host four games during Euro 2020. Mammadov added: 'Football is already going beyond European countries. 'The leading football countries always try to expand the footballing borders and the values of football are to expand and to give opportunities. 'We are one of the young opportunities for football. Even if we are apart from the European family we and other neighbouring countries have the right to host such an event, and today we can really give something to football. Every event and opportunity like this can only bring positivity to the world. 'After the final, more girls will play football, more coaches will appear and study, It's really important to promote football in general.'
