David Willey today missed out on a World Cup place after England confirmed the exciting Jofra Archer will take his place in their final squad.

Willey is the unlucky bowler, who has done nothing wrong over the last four years, who is left out of the final 15 with England agonising over which of the pacemen, who have taken Eoin Morgan's side to the top of the one-day rankings, should step down.

It is hugely unlucky on Willey, who fought off the challenge of Sam Curran to become the regular left-arm option in England’s squad, but the bottom line is that there are three better new-ball options in England’s squad in Archer, Mark Wood and Chris Woakes.
