Speaking at the launch of the new powder blue kit for the tournament, which begins against South Africa next Thursday, Morgan opened up on the discussions about who would make the cut. 'I’m very fortunate to sit in on the (selection) meetings. I try and feedback the mood in the changing room,' he said. Eoin Morgan was an advocate of Jofra Archer's inclusion and Ed Smith agreed with him Liam Plunkett was among the players in attendance for the launch of England's kit 'Obviously Ed (Smith) has the final say, so we try and give him as much information to make the call. ‘We are very happy he backed us with our decision and we are happy with the squad.' Some players, including Chris Woakes, had previously argued that the inclusion of Archer would be unfair as he'd only recently become eligible but the selection committee opted to pick him. Morgan went on to laud the abilities of Archer and spoke with excitement at the all-rounder's potential. ‘Jofra has come in and done exactly what he’s done for Sussex and other franchises around the world,' he added. Jos Buttler (left), Root, and Morgan (second from right) chat to Rob Key (right) Archer was included in the final squad and Morgan was full of praise for his potential 'I think he has actually come on in the games he’s played. He’s very young with a lot of cricket ahead of him and if he can continue to improve throughout his career, he’s a very exciting prospect.' Both David Willey and Joe Denly missed out on selection for the World Cup but Morgan believes there is a strong chance both could still contribute in the coming weeks. ‘I spoke to David and Joe on Tuesday night and said, longer term, with the length of the tournament and the amount of fixtures we will play, we are likely to get injuries along the way and they are next in line. ‘So I still see them playing a part in our journey and our World Cup campaign.’ The England captain will lead his side against South Africa in the opener next Thursday Share or comment on this article: All rights reserved for this news site dailymail and under his responsibility
