On May 25, 1999 at the French Open, a 17-year-old Swiss wildcard made his Grand Slam debut. He took the first set off world No3 Pat Rafter but won only five games thereafter.
Twenty years and 20 Grand Slam titles later and Roger Federer is still here.. Out of the 128 men who played here in 1999, he is the last one going.
And he is going strong enough to return to Roland Garros after three years in which he did not trust his body enough to put it through the rigours of a clay court season.
