sport news Tottenham vs Liverpool PLAYER RATINGS: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy ...

Liverpool won the Champions League for the sixth time in their history thanks to Mohamed Salah's second-minute penalty and Divock Origi's late second.

They struck the decisive blows in the final despite Tottenham creating most of the chances in the second-half.

Sportsmail's PETE JENSON was at the Wanda Metropolitano to rate each of those players involved in the final.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (4-2-3-1)

Hugo Lloris

Handling wasn't always the best and he gave away an unnecessary corner in the first half but he tipped over Robertson's well-struck shot to prevent Liverpool doubling lead. 6

Kieran Trippier

Unsettled by Mane running in behind him from the first kick. Responded aggressively but with so much to do defensively couldn't get forward where Spurs desperately missed his quality delivery. 6

Toby Alderweireld

Tried to get Tottenham playing out from the back and one long pass found Son but struggled with the midfield so swamped in front of him. 6.5

Jan Vertonghen

Played one very special long ball to Trippier in the first half and another fine diagonal to Rose. When Tottenham were ragged and had to play long his distribution was good.

Danny Rose

Like Trippier on the other side his forward raids were limited and when he did get forward the move broke down when he put the ball behind Son. Was better in the second half carrying the fight to Liverpool. 6.5

Moussa Sissoko

Maybe Mane did just blast the ball at his extended arm in the area but it was still naive to spread himself that way in the area. He never lost his head afterwards but neither was he able to get the team playing. 5.5

Harry Winks

Picked ahead of Wanyama for his ability to keep the ball and build the play but couldn't impose himself and was taken off in the second half with Pochettino moving Eriksen back in an effort to get Tottenham playing. 5.5

Christian Eriksen

Tried to drift in off the right and feed Son and midway through the first half it worked when he threaded one pass through. Blazed over from edge of area. Dropped back when Winks went off. Not the worst but Madrid won't be breaking the door down. 7

Dele Alli

Wasted one break with an over-hit pass to Son that ran straight to Alisson. Failed to link up with Kane or run in behind Liverpool's defence in the first half. Improved but one dinked shot was closest he came. 6

Heung-min Son

Worked hard with diagonal runs across the Liverpool defence but it wasn't his night. Missed a chance when put through by Eriksen. Looked most likely to unsettle Liverpool. 6.5

Harry Kane

Questions will be asked about his fitness but most of Tottenham's moves broke down long before the ball got anywhere near Kane. Tough to come back from nine games out and take the final by the scruff of the neck. 6
