Jo Konta's extraordinary metamorphosis into a dirt-balling clay court expert continued as she beat Croatia’s Donna Vekic 6-2, 6-4 to reach the quarter finals of the French Open.
Some context to this transformation: having had only eight tour-level victories on clay in her life she has won 14 in a little over two months; having never won a main draw match at Roland Garros before this year, she has now reached the last eight of a Grand Slam on all three surfaces and will face either Sloane Stephens or Garbine Muguruza on Tuesday for a place in her third major semi-final.
